Michigan State football will be without one of its top tight ends for the rest of the season.

Michael Masunas has reportedly had shoulder surgery and will be out for the rest of the season. His mother posted on Facebook about the surgery this week, and was shared on the social media platform X by SpartanTailgate.com on Friday morning.

Masunas appeard in four games this season and recorded four receptions for 37 yards. He was one of the younger players on the team that received high praise during preseason camp and it appeared to translate to the field in his time as a reserve tight end for the Spartans.

Masunas is a sophomore and will have the opportunity to redshirt this season since he played in only four games.

Michigan State football is on a bye this week and will return to action on October 19 against Iowa. Kickoff between the Spartans and Hawkeyes is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on NBC.
