Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Zay Jones was reinstated last week from his five-game suspension. Now he is officially on the active roster. The Cardinals activated him after using the one-game exemption they had to give him some practice time after five weeks of not being with the team.

Because they had released receiver Chris Moore last week, they did not need to make a corresponding roster move.

His return is timely and could be essential.

Rookie receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is currently in concussion protocol, making his availability for the Cardinals’ next game on Monday night at home against the L.A. Chargers uncertain.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon said Monday, “it’s going to be good” getting Jones back.

“He is a good player. He can play three spots. He’s a playmaker. He is a consistent vet (from) what he’s shown. We’re excited to get him back,” he said.

Hampered by injuries last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jones caught 34 passes for 321 yards and two touchdowns in only nine games. However, he is the most accomplished receiver on the roster, having a career-high of 82 receptions for 823 yards in 2022, scoring five touchdowns.
