Georgia Bulldogs running back Branson Robinson has been ruled out against the Texas Longhorns. Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart noted that Robinson would be unable to play as No. 4 UGA plays at No. 1 Texas.

Branson Robinson is Georgia’s top power rusher. The Bulldogs are without a pair of physical running backs in Branson Robinson and Roderick Robinson, who is recovering from turf toe surgery.

Branson Robinson, who missed the 2023 college football season with a patella tendon injury, left the Mississippi State game with a knee injury.

“Branson has a MCL,” said Kirby Smart. “I don’t know how many weeks it’ll be, but he will not be available this week. Forecasting it out is impossible because the MCL is one of the ones that has to heal itself, so we’ve had MCLs in the past. Anything from, you know, two weeks to three weeks.”

Fortunately, it appears that Robinson avoided a serious injury. It sounds like he should be able to return later in the season.

“I don’t know what it’s going to be, but he’s going to be okay. It’s just a matter of getting back him back,” continued Smart. “It was not the same leg injury that he previously had. It was different.”

Georgia could have Robinson back as soon as the Nov. 2 game against the Florida Gators following the Dawgs’ bye week. Robinson has 25 rushes for 73 yards and three touchdowns this season. It is an unfortunate setback for the sophomore, who was still trying to acclimate back to college football after missing last season.
