Titans' offensive line leads to anomalous outcome

The Tennessee Titans suffered another frustrating defeat at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, dropping their record to 1-4 on the season.

During the game, the much-maligned offensive line finished the game unscathed, not allowing a sack. This is the first time in three seasons that Titans’ quarterbacks have not been sacked in a game and the first time in Will Levis’ career.

What complicates this feat is the results in the passing game. Levis again struggled, and the team only notched 95 yards through the air in the game. Yes, the game plan took a conservative approach, but for the first time in 2024, Levis had time to throw and didn’t face the pressure that had been the downfall throughout the early parts of the season.

While the protection, lack of pressure, and sacks are a step in the right direction for the offense, the dreadful production from the passing game is a disturbing outcome. This poses the question: Is this an anomaly or a sign of something more concerning?

The game plan, really, for the past two games, has been extremely conservative. Even with that approach, the passing game should have been better and must be better for the Titans to succeed.

Everyone will see if this trend continues on Sunday when the Titans travel to Orchard Park to face the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium.
