The Washington Capitals have been very active on the trade front this season. First, Washington made the Pierre-Luc Dubois trade with the Los Angeles Kings. Then, the Capitals traded for Andrew Mangiapane from the Calgary Flames. On Saturday, they made two more trades. One of them saw Washington add goalie Logan Thompson from the Vegas Golden Knights.

The second day of the NHL trade has yielded another trade. On Saturday, the Los Angeles Kings and Tampa Bay Lightning completed the Tanner Jeannot trade. Tampa Bay gets the 118th selection in this year’s draft and a second-rounder in 2025. That 118th pick was used to select Jan Golicic of Gatineau of the QMJHL.

Sean Durzi signed a four-year contract with the Utah Hockey Club on Sunday. Financial terms were not disclosed. The 25-year-old defenseman could have become a restricted free agent at noon ET on Monday. He had an NHL career-high 41 points (nine goals, 32 assists) in 76 games for the Arizona Coyotes this season.

The mother of a Denver homeless man told the City Council Monday that city-sponsored services have failed her son. Barbara Hallick Yeomans made her remarks during public comment period of the City Council meeting. She said her son grapples with substance abuse and mental illness and repeatedly has been harassed by police. She said her son also suffered verbal abuse by a guard in the Denver County Jail. Yeomans said she heard the guard harassing her son over the phone.

Platkin and the Division of Consumer Affairs announced today that Walmart has agreed to pay $1.64 million to settle allegations of unlawful unit pricing practices across its 64 New Jersey retail stores.
