    Utah woman, 56, dies while hiking after running out of water in scorching temperatures

    A woman has tragically lost her life while hiking near Quail Creek State Park in southwestern Utah over the weekend, after she ran out of water on a scorching day.

    Emergency services were called to the scene on Sunday following reports of a hiker "in distress due to not having enough water and the temperature being 106 degrees Fahrenheit," (41 degrees Celsius).

    The 56-year-old was unresponsive when the rescue team found her. Despite their best efforts, attempts to save her life were unsuccessful. Her identity and place of residence have yet to be disclosed.

    The incident is one of several deaths believed to be heat-related across the western US in recent weeks. The previous weekend saw three hikers lose their lives in state and national parks in Utah .

    This included a father and daughter from Wisconsin who became disoriented during a challenging hike in Canyonlands National Park amid triple-digit temperatures .

    A 30-year-old woman also died in Snow Canyon State Park, with two others suffering from heat exhaustion . In Arizona's Grand Canyon National Park , three hikers have died in recent weeks.

    Summer temperatures on exposed parts of the trails can soar above 120 degrees Fahrenheit (49 degrees Celsius).
