FEMA, THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY, CONTINUES TO PROVIDE HELP TO IOWANS AFFECTED BY FLOODS AND TORNADOES THIS SUMMER. THE AGENCY SAYS SELF-EMPLOYED IOWANS ARE NOW ELIGIBLE FOR FEMA ASSISTANCE AND THEIR PROGRAMS CAN HELP REPLACE ITEMS THAT WOULD USUALLY BE GIVEN BY A COMPANY LIKE A COMPUTER, TOOLS FOR MANUAL LABOR OR MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS.

DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Television Iowa Capitol Bureau) - Independent Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says he’s met the requirements to be on the ballot in Iowa. Independent candidates have a different way of getting on the ballot than Republicans or Democrats. Back in April, Kennedy held a convention in Des Moines where he had to get at least 500 eligible electors’ names and addresses to turn into Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate’s office. Kennedy’s campaign says he turned in 750 names Tuesday.

Value-Added Ag Hall Of Fame Recipients Honored
Primghar, Iowa — The 2024 O’Brien County Value-Added Ag Hall Of Fame recipients have been named. According to O’Brien County Economic Development Director Kiana Johnson, Johnny Westra of rural Primghar was honored as the 2024 recipient of the Value Added Ag Hall of Fame Award and Fred De Jong & Sons, Inc. of Primghar was recognized as the business recipient of the Value Added Ag Hall of Fame Award.

The monthly report from Le Mars Fire Rescue shows a total of 193 service calls in July, 142 of them were EMS/rescue calls, transfers and second calls. There were 18 fire/rescue calls, Some of Fire Rescue’s other activities included holding rthe 4th of July Fireworks display; 33 members donated110 hours to provide Fire and EMS coverage at the Plymouth County Fair. They also worked with FEMA on flood issues, and implemented part of the city’s disaster plan due to the damaging storm earlier this week.
Head to Grand Junction for 50107 Summerfest Tomorrow and Saturday
Grand Junction will be hopping with family-fun entertainment this weekend. The annual 50107 Summerfest kicks off tomorrow evening with a slate of festivities. Co-Organizer Linda Hoffman says the carnival, food vendors, and yard games all open at 5pm, along with Greene County Cattlemen’s Association will also serve a meal from 5-8pm. Hoffman talks about the carnival.
