Furniture Amnesty Day set for July 26
This year’s Furniture Amnesty Day event will take place starting at 8 a.m. Friday, July 26 in City Park. The City of Manhattan has announced that it is a free community event that gives people the opportunity to donate or pick up used furniture at no cost. Anyone can participate. There are no income requirements or forms to fill out to choose from the donated items.
KCAC tournaments no longer coming to Great Bend
The City of Great Bend and the Great Bend Recreation Commission announce that the KCAC Softball and Baseball Championship will no longer be held in Great Bend. The decision comes as a result of new leadership and revised strategic goals within the KCAC, which include selecting a location with more hotel accommodations and a more central position relative to the league's schools.
JCHS alumni stones are put in place

Labette County Fair Starts Tomorrow
The Labette County Fair starts this weekend in Oswego. Starting tomorrow, the horse show performance will kick things off at 8 a.m. On Sunday, the dog show takes place at 11 a.m. followed by the pony pull at 2 p.m. Events will take place all next week as the fair will continue through next Saturday. Some additional highlights include the rodeo on Tuesday and Wednesday night, Bull riding on Friday and the demo derby on Saturday. All events take place at the Labette County Fairgrounds in Oswego, and coming up on Tuesday, we'll have fair organizers on for a preview of events during Open Line at 9:10 a.m.
