August Bailey said he was stranded for nearly 24 hours after he claims the bus drivers wouldn’t allow him to board their buses because of his service animal. Bailey said that is a violation of the American Disability Act, which prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities.
NEMCC hosts active shooter response training for area law officers

Jackson emphasized the importance of stress inoculation for effective response and highlighted ALERRT as a common language for law enforcement. Officers learn to remain calm under pressure, using the acronym LCAN for vital communication. The Prentiss County School District funded equipment for the drills, which also offer public classes.

The first incident took place early Saturday near Adams and Kelly Streets, where witnesses reported two Black males firing at a vehicle, striking a house and another vehicle, but no injuries occurred. The suspects fled towards Veterans Blvd. The second shooting happened early Sunday on Tedford Street, where a slim Black male fired multiple shots before running away, hitting parked vehicles with no reported injuries. Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact Tupelo Police or Crime Stoppers of North East Mississippi.
