Wind farm project to revolutionize Long Island’s energy
Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) announced Wednesday, July 17, the start of construction on Sunrise Wind, an offshore wind farm about 30 miles off the coast of Montauk. The project is spearheaded by Ørsted, a global leader in renewable energy. To celebrate the groundbreaking of the project, officials from Ørsted met with several government leaders at the Boys & Girls Club in Bellport.

ROME — Two men have been taken into custody for weapons possession after search warrants were executed at homes on East Dominick Street and Wellesley Road, according to the Rome Police Department. Three handguns, four long guns, two high-capacity magazines, and a quantity of ammunition were recovered in total, authorities stated.
Volunteers sought to help clean up parks Saturday
ROME — The city of Rome is looking for volunteers to help clean up the parks and playgrounds still hampered by tornado damage this Saturday, according to city officials. Several city parks remain closed due to damage and debris from the July 16 tornado, including Gryziec Field, Fort Stanwix Park and Triangle Park, among others. The city is organizing a volunteer effort to clean these parks between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday, in conjunction with Rome Clean and Green and Positively Rome.
