Upgraded Rest Stop Opens on New York State Thruway
The New York State Thruway Authority is celebrating this week as one of the most traveled roads in New York become a little more "convenient" for Hudson Valley drivers. If you've ever found yourself driving on the New York State Thruway you know that every 50 miles or so there are service areas that drivers can use to fuel up, stretch their legs, use the restroom, and or get something to eat. The New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA) currently has 27 service areas along the 500+ miles of controlled-access toll roads.

2 People Wanted By New York State Police
Do you know either of these two individuals? New York State Police want to speak to them in connection to a crime. New York State Police at Homer need your help in identifying these two suspects - a male and a female. Trooper responded to a call at the Walmart on Bennie Road in Cortlandville on May 14, 2024. It was reported that the two suspects left the store with a full cart of items and did not try to pay for the items. The suspects fled the Walmart in a black pickup truck. Despite their best efforts, Troopers have not been able to locate the suspects and need the public's help identifying them. Three Finger Lakes region colleges have received millions of dollars in grants for various projects, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced last week. Grants through the Higher Education Capital Matching Grant Program support construction and renovation of new laboratory and research spaces, the purchase of new instructional technologies and equipment as well as other investments. Campuses receiving the grants have to invest at least $3 of their own funds for every $1 of state funds they receive.
