CNY Memorial Stair Climb this Saturday

The Central New York Memorial Stair Climb in Utica takes place at 8 a.m. this Saturday, Sept. 7.

Held annually, the Stair Climb sees firefighters from all over New York come to Utica to climb 55 flights of stairs up and 55 flights of stairs down, commemorating the 110 flights of stairs in the World Trade Center.

The event raises money for a number of groups and organizations.

This year’s beneficiaries include:

• Believe 271
• NFFF Brick Project
• Honor 37 (Unity Tour NLEOMF)
• Believe 31
• 1 Soldier, 1 Dog, 1 Team
• Burn Foundation of CNY

Firefighters will be making the climb with their complete turn-out gear, just as firefighters did on Sept. 11, 2001.
