    Frankfort man dies after head-on collision on State Route 5 early Sunday morning

    A two-car crash on State Route 5 in the town of Herkimer left a 35-year-old dead from their injuries, according to a statement from the New York State Police.

    On Oct. 6 at around 2:38 a.m., New York State Police in Herkimer were dispatched to a two-car crash on Route 5.

    There, they discovered that a 2010 Dodge, driven by Charles Taylor, 54, of Herkimer, was traveling eastbound on State Route 5 when he crossed over into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a 2015 Chevrolet, driven by Michael Palmer, 35, of Frankfort.

    Palmer was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where he succumbed to his injuries.

    Taylor was transported to MVHS-Wynn Hospital, where he is listed as stable.

    The investigation is ongoing.
