Ranger Kielak, an alumni of Loyalton FFA in California, is embarking on an incredible journey: walking across the country to raise money for nonprofit organizations that are close to his heart. Ranger, who started his walk in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on March 10, plans to finish in Pismo Beach, California, next month. Currently, he is crossing the border from New Mexico to Arizona.

Las Cruces prison's phone system restored after three-day outage, official confirms
LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — After being done since Friday, phone systems at a Las Cruces correctional facility went back up on Monday. Brittany Roembach, the public information officer for the New Mexico Corrections Department, said the phones at the Southern New Mexico Correctional Facility are back on after experiencing technical issues for three days.

Andre Seldon Jr., who played corner for the New Mexico State University Aggies last year, died last weekend by apparent drowning, officials said. Las Cruces man arrested after leaving toddler in car to buy drugs, police say
LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — Las Cruces police arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly leaving his two-year-old son in a running vehicle to buy drugs Saturday morning. According to the Las Cruces Police Department, Jacob Lopez was arrested and charged with child abuse and two counts of possession of a controlled substance after police received a 911 call from a witness who said Lopez had left his son unattended while he went into a room at the Plaza Suites, at 301 E. University Avenue, known for drug trafficking.
Blanco woman missing for nearly 10 years found dead
The body of a Blanco woman missing for nearly 10 years was found July 3 by a person walking in the area, according to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office. Sharron Holcomb was 64 years old when she disappeared Nov. 18, 2014. She was last seen at 1 p.m. that day, driving away from her Farmington-based business Holcomb Oil and Gas Co. Her car was later found at the family home in Bloomfield, but she was not home.

A Farmington man was arrested in connection to what could be a gang-related shooting in Bloomfield, according to police. Kayin Lee Candelaria, 25, was charged with four fourth-degree felonies including shooting at a dwelling, shooting at or from a motor vehicle and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
