Anderson County officials and others are mourning the death of longtime County Law Director Jay Yeager on Friday. "It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing. ... Events of note: Cornelius music school celebrates 10 years in August
July 29. Learn Music, a Cornelius-based music instruction school, is observing its 10th anniversary in August. Founded by Cornelius native Adam Wilson, the studio has taught over 2000 students of all ages, supported over 75 music students through their partnership with the Cain Center, hosted over 60 recitals, and organized 31 concerts for their student rock bands.
August 1st begins “beans in the jar” month to predict upcoming snows for winter 2024-2025 season
The August tradition of placing a bean in a jar to predict the number of upcoming winter snowfalls is about to get underway once again. For every foggy morning in August, a bean (you can also use coins since they are more readily available) is placed in a jar. A big bean is used for a heavy fog and a small bean for a light fog. If you are using coins, then use a quarter as a “big bean” and a penny or dime for a “small bean”.
