Man arrested for allegedly kidnapping Vallejo woman, child

( KRON ) — A man was arrested in Vallejo on Sunday after he allegedly kidnapped a woman and her child, the Vallejo Police Department said. The suspect was identified as Cordell Milton Shaw.

Police responded to the 100 block of Maher Court after a caller alleged a victim was being held hostage by a man with a gun, police said.

Police made contact with the victim, who said Shaw kidnapped her. She told police that he threatened her and was violent with her when she tried to escape.

VPD conducted a “strategic surround and call-out operation” and Shaw surrendered himself. The victim and her child were rescued safely.

Police searched the home and found two loaded guns, one of which was stolen out of Stanislaus County, according to VPD.

Shaw was arrested on counts of kidnapping, false imprisonment, domestic violence, and possession of a stolen firearm.

There was a separate case in Vallejo on Saturday in which a 14-day-old child was reported missing in a suspected parental abduction. The baby was later found safe.
