Taylor appeal sent back to state Supreme Court
BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A Burleigh County judge affirmed a unanimous guilty verdict for a Bismarck teen convicted in a 2022 murder. Jesse Taylor Junior appealed his conviction and life sentence to the state Supreme Court earlier this year. The defense says an issue with the court transcript should reverse his conviction.

Fargo metro area stricken with multiple structure fires
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Multiple homes suffered damage from fires over the course of just a few hours in the FM metro area the night of the Fourth of July. Just after 12:30am in Moorhead, a house on the 2900 block of Heatherwood Circle sustained severe damage to its garage after a fire which lasted nearly two hours as crews worked to contain it.
1 killed, 3 injured in car/motorcycle crash in Fargo
FARGO – A motorcyclist was killed and several others were hurt when a car and motorcycle collided in Fargo Thursday night. It happened at 25th St. and 13th Avenue S. just after 10:30 p.m. The State Patrol says the 47-year old Fargo man who was on the motorcycle entered the intersection on a red light and was struck by a car. He died. His passenger, a 19-year old Fargo woman, suffered life-threatening injuries. Two 21-year old women from Fargo who were in the car were hurt but their injuries are not life-threatening. No names have been released.
Man found dead in Red River in Fargo
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Fargo Police say a man was found dead in the Red River in north Fargo Thursday night. Authorities from Fargo and Moorhead responded to the scene near the 1400 block of Elm St. N. around 9:45 p.m. on Thursday July 4 after they say a passer-by called 911 to report a person in the water.
One person dead, another arrested after shooting in Grand Forks bar
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) - One person is dead and another in custody after a shooting at a Grand Forks bar. Grand Forks Police say they were dispatched to Sledster’s Food and Brew on South 4th Street around 7:19 p.m. on Thursday July 4. Inside, they say they found an adult victim on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving measures, the person died.
Osgood Elementary Administrator Cleared to Return to Work
A West Fargo area elementary school administrator is returning to his job after an investigation into physical altercations with students. Osgood Elementary Assistant Principal Joshua Dahl was placed on administrative leave after accusations of touching and aggressive grabbing of students. The West Fargo School District and state authorities performed an investigation. The report released this week says they found those accusations mostly valid and that Dahl violated policy, but that no abuse or negligence towards students was committed. In one incident, Dahl bruised a student who the district says was biting and punching him. The report also notes many students, faculty, and staff who are opposed to Dahl’s actions. He will be placed on an improvement plan and will return to Osgood Elementary this fall.

Dickinson Research Extension Center field days set for July 9 and 10
The North Dakota State University (NDSU) Dickinson Research Extension Center (DREC) will host an agronomy field day on July 9 and livestock-focused field day on July 10.
