Two former Valley Grande City Council members are under consideration to fill a vacant council seat that was occupied by Bruce Hughes, who died June 13.

Either Tammy Troha or Lamar Morgan, who both served in the previous council seat, will replace Bruce Hughes, who died on June 13. Mayor Wayne Labbe said Monday that the council will decide at the August 5 meeting at 5 p.m. at Valley Grande City Hall. Troha or Morgan will fill the seat until August 2025.

Councilman Robby Rose was absent from the meeting. When Rose returns, council members Kay Davidson, Sara Day, and Jane Harris will vote at the next meeting.

Hughes was inside a camper on June 13 when it caught fire. He died after not being able to get out in time. He was 71.
