    Quick response saves the day after hay bales catch fire

    OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) — A potential disaster was averted on Saturday after bales of hay caught fire in Valley Grove.

    According to the Valley Grove Volunteer Fire Department , crews were called out at approximately 5:00 p.m. for a brush fire after several large bales of hay ignited.

    Valley Grove VFD Engine 56, Rescue 57 and Utility Truck 58-1, along with Dallas VFD, Triadelphia VFD, West Alexander VFD, Mozart VFD, Stone Church VFD all responded.

    Officials say to keep the crews safe from heat exhaustion and dehydration EMA 1 and 2, and Ohio County EMS set up a hydration station at the scene.

    Officials say Clearview and West Liberty VFDs were on standby to cover the responding areas.

    According to Valley Grove VFD, Texas Roadhouse also provided the first responders with food.
