State agriculture officials have confirmed the presence of spotted lanternfly in the Finger Lakes region, a concerning development for local grape growers. The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets identified the invasive pest in Romulus, New York, following reports from Cornell’s New York State Integrated Pest Management Program (NYS IPM). NYPD: Loaded guns, ammo found in car during routine traffic stop on Staten Island
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Brooklyn man is facing multiple charges after a routine traffic stop on Staten Island found him in possession of two loaded firearms, police said. Rogers Ritson, 36, of the 1100 block of Glenmore Avenue in Brooklyn, has been charged with several felonies, including two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, for having a loaded firearm and explosive bullets, police said. He’s also facing unregistered vehicle and unsafe turn/failure-to-signal violations.
