    Local fire departments among many assisting Houston

    MORGAN’S POINT RESORT / GATESVILLE, Texas ( FOX 44 ) – Some local fire departments are among many across Texas assisting the city of Houston during its time of need.

    Morgan’s Point Resort Fire-Rescue and the Turnersville Fire Department are providing humanitarian aid to those suffering from a lack of clean drinking water and the effects of rising temperatures. Monday marks the third straight day of working dawn to dusk in Houston’s 5th Ward.

    A powerful and deadly storm struck Houston on Thursday . This has led to seven people dead, hundreds more being displaced and millions without power. The Texas Department of Emergency Management said Sunday that more than 450 state responders and 275 resource assets are engaged across affected communities.

    Morgan’s Point Resort Fire-Rescue is asking the community to pray for all first responders as they continue to care for communities both near and far.

    In addition, the Salvation Army of Greater Houston tells FOX 44 News it has partnered with the City of Houston Office of Emergency Management to support large-scale distribution of supplies and food.
