Memorial Day ceremonies across the Rio Grande Valley

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — This Memorial Day there will be ceremonies throughout the Rio Grande Valley to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Edinburg

The city invites the community to attend the annual Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony on Friday, May 24 at 10 a.m. The event will be held at  Edinburg Municipal Auditorium, located at 200 N. 7th Avenue, right behind Edinburg City Hall.

McAllen

Join the Veterans War Memorial Committee on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Veterans War Memorial, 3129 Galveston Ave. for a Memorial Day Ceremony. In attendance will be Mayor Javier Villalobos, the city commission, the McAllen Fire Honor Guard, police honor guard, and the McAllen Wind Ensemble.

Mission

The Veterans Land Board will host a ceremony at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery on Monday, May 27 at 9 a.m. for a Memorial Day Ceremony honoring those lost in service to our nation. Flags will be placed on KIA and MIA headstones during the Roll Call. All are welcome to attend. Location: 2520 S. Inspiration Rd. The keynote speaker will be retired U.S. Army General Ricardo Sanchez.

Alamo

Join the city for its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 27, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Cemetery located at 803 S. Tower Rd. This event is hosted by the Alamo Knights of Columbus, Council 10380, with words from Mayor J.R. Garza and keynote speaker, Commander Felix M. Rodriguez.

San Benito

A Memorial Day Ceremony will be held Monday, May 27 at the San Benito Veterans War Memorial starting at 9 a.m. Presentation of Colors by the San Benito Fire and Police Department Honor Guard. Location at 151 E. Rowson St.

Rio Grande City

“Remembering Our Fallen” Memorial Day Observance is set for Thursday, May 23 at 9 a.m. at the Britton Avenue Quiosco. For more information call (956) 488-0047.

Roma

The City of Roma, in partnership with VFW Post 9175, invites the public to honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The city will hold a Memorial Day event at the Roma Cemetery at 320 E. Grant St. on Monday, May 27 at 9 a.m.
