PD: Father, son arrested for providing alcohol to minors, one hospitalized

MCALLEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — A father and son have been charged for allegedly providing alcohol to minors during a party which led to a guest requiring medical attention, authorities say.

At 11:39 p.m. on Saturday, McAllen police responded to the 4700 block of North Betsen Road in regard to a report of a person in need of medical assistance.

At the scene, police found various alcoholic beverages.

The suspect, identified as Jaime Islas and a minor, are accused of providing alcoholic beverages to minors at the residence, including the victim.

Islas and his son were charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor and arraigned Sunday at noon.

Islas’ bond was set at $30,000. He was booked into the Hidalgo County Jail.

The victim in the case was transported to a hospital for treatment and remains hospitalized.

This investigation is being led by the McAllen Police Department and The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
