    Teenage girl hit by car while running, McAllen police say

    MCALLEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — A teenage girl was struck by a car this morning in McAllen, according to police.

    The incident occurred at around 6:19 a.m. Thursday when the teenager was reportedly running.

    According to police, the incident happened on W. Pecan Boulevard and Bentsen Road. The 911 call that came in, identified the young girl as a runner who was struck.

    Authorities say the teenager sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.

    Her family was notified of the accident.

    The motorist remained at the scene and reported the accident.

    McAllen police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
