    False alarm: Umbrella mistaken for rifle at McAllen H-E-B

    McALLEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Heavy police presence was reported at a McAllen H-E-B on Tuesday evening.

    McAllen police reported to an H-E-B on Trenton Road after something caused a commotion among shoppers.

    Initial reports mention a man with a rifle at a store, according to Sgt. Saenz with McAllen police.

    Upon further inspection, police determined the man was carrying an umbrella, Saenz adds.

    Police cleared the scene after the false alarm.

    H-E-B will resume regular operating hours on Wednesday.
