Deputies identify Edinburg resident found with gunshot wounds

EDINBURG, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Hidalgo County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday evening.

Deputies responded at 8:32 p.m. to a report of shots fired at the 8200 block of E. Curry Road in rural Edinburg, per the sheriff’s office news release.

When they arrived, deputies discovered a 67-year-old Jorge Luis Lopez of Edinburg lying face down in the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. Lopez was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

Sheriff’s investigators are calling this case a homicide.
