BAY OF CAMPECHE ( ValleyCentral ) – The tropical forecast is jumping back to life for the Rio Grande Valley as a tropical disturbance is forecast to become something better organized this coming week as it tracks along the coasts of Mexico and Texas.

It is called Invest 91 right now. It is an area of low pressure where current conditions will allow for further development. Forecast models are keeping Invest 91 fairly weak and disorganized through its forecast track. So far it will probably become a tropical depression, but some data are showing it could become a tropical storm later this week.

Invest 91 is expected to move north/northwest paralleling the coast. Much of the forecast data push the disturbance off the RGV coast by Thursday.

So far this is shaping up to be a great rain maker for the Valley beginning Monday and lasting through Thursday.

The biggest concerns so far are increasing surf conditions along the coast and the potential for localized flooding from prolonged rainfall later in the week.

We will keep you updated on air and online with more information in the coming days.
