Campuses announce delays, adjustments ahead of tropical storm

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — School districts and universities have announced delays ahead of the upcoming tropical storm.

Adjustments to school schedules and operations will be included in this article.

Cameron County

Point Isabel ISD: Schools and facilities will open at 10:15 a.m., on Tuesday. Bus routes will begin at 10 a.m. with a 4-hour delay from normal pick-up times. Instructional time will begin at 11 a.m.

UTRGV: The university will operate as usual with adjustments only to Harlingen Park & Ride transportation. On Tuesday, Vaquero Express will stop at HCEBL in addition to the Harlingen Park & Ride Soccer Complex. Harlingen Circulator hours have been extended to provide connectivity between the Soccer Complex and HCEBL. Harlingen Circulator will be operating at 6:30 a.m. starting at the Soccer Complex with a last trip from thee to HCEBL at 12:15 a.m.

Brownsville ISD: All outdoor athletics scheduled for after school today are canceled. The district says the safety and well-being of its students and families is a priority.
