    Tropical Storm Francine causing flooding in lower Cameron County

    HARLINGEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Flooding in the Lower Rio Grande Valley is being reported Tuesday morning and causing road closures in the following areas.

    The Cameron County Office of Emergency Management is reporting flooding in the following areas and advising that drivers take precautions or avoid these areas:

    • Authur St.

    • Texas Ave. to Boca Chica Blvd.

    • Southmost Blvd. & International Blvd.

    • 6th St. & Jefferson St.

    • 7th St. & Madison St.

    • 855 Military Rd. (Garden Park Elementary)

    • 1040 E. Taylor St.

    • Boca Chica Blvd. & 14th St.

    • Boca Chica Blvd. & Security Dr.

    • Boca Chica Blvd. & McDavitt Blvd.

    • Boca Chica Blvd. & Los Ebanos Blvd.

    • East Ave. & Tulipan St.

    • 1500 Block of Palm Blvd.

    • Price Rd. & Expressway

    • 25 Eloy St.

    • 4804 Austin Rd.

    • Barnard Rd.

    • Barnard Rd. & W Price Rd.

    A flash flood warning is in effect for these areas until 10:30 a.m. and a flood watch is in effect until 3 p.m.

    Additionally, areas from Boca Chica Beach, Port Isabel, and Brownsville have prompted Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño to order the temporary closure of Boca Chica Beach, County Beach Access No. 3, County Beach Access No. 4, County Beach Access No. 5/E.K. Atwood Park Pavilion, and County Beach Access No. 6.

    The Cameron County Emergency Management and Fire Marshal Service asks the public to take extra precautions.

    They say heavy rainfall associated with Tropical Storm Francine will lead to isolated to scattered showers accompanied by street and flash flooding this morning.
