    Victims in Texas park double killing identified by Lubbock PD

    LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock Police Department has identified the man and woman killed after a shooting at Mackenzie Park as Angel Aleman, 55, and Lydia Hernandez, 47.

    LPD said officers were called to the 300 block of Cesar E. Chavez Drive around 8:18 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, for reports of shots fired. Police said it was an isolated incident.

    According to LPD, police found Aleman on the ground, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Hernandez was found with serious injuries. She was taken to University Medical Center by EMS and died shortly after she got to the hospital.

    A dog owned by Aleman was also found dead at the scene, LPD said. No arrests have been made.

    “The Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Unit and LPD Forensic Unit also responded to assist with the investigation and process the scene,” LPD stated in a press release.

    The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Line at (806) 741- 1000.
