    Victim of auto-ped crash dies after being struck by Weslaco ISD bus

    WESLACO, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — The Texas Department of Public Safety and Weslaco police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian accident involving a district school bus.

    Feliberto Romero Ramirez, 72, died of injuries he sustained from the accident Wednesday morning, according to DPS.

    Authorities confirm the accident happened at 6:50 a.m. Wednesday on FM 493 and Hernandez Road in rural Donna.

    According to DPS, Ramirez was struck as he was walking eastbound on the south side of Hernandez Road.

    The Weslaco Independent School District confirmed the bus did not carry students at the time of the accident.

    Weslaco ISD shared its condolences following the news of Ramirez’s passing.

    It is with deep sadness that we learn of the tragic passing of 72-year-old Feliberto Romero Ramirez of Donna after being involved in an auto/pedestrian accident involving a Weslaco ISD bus this morning. Our hearts go out to the family and friends affected by this heartbreaking loss. Safety is our highest priority, and WISD is cooperating fully with the investigation. Weslaco ISD extends our deepest sympathies to everyone involved in this tragedy. We mourn what happened today, and ask everyone to keep those affected in your prayers.

    The driver had to been speeding and probably not paying attention.

    I don't understand why drivers haven't gotten the concept that in the Rio grande valley there are many pedestrians . reason cause many people walk can't afford a car or insurance cause the pinche El Valle is the poorest region in the United States and some drivers from the RGV drive like Mexican drivers
