“It’s a day to remember, it’s a day to reminisce, and a day to honor all those that lost their lives that day,” said Jerry Alaniz, Palmview Fire Department Fire Chief. “That morning of the attack, I was on duty and I had just started my career in the fire service and we had gone into lockdown.”

Alaniz added, that on that day they did not know what was going on, so they turned on the TV and saw the attack in New York.

“We were all shocked as far as what was happening, the magnitude of what was happening that day,” he said.

The City of Palmview paid tribute to the victims and first responders who tragically lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. During the ceremony, there were speeches and analysis of security changes in America since the attack.
