According to a news release from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation revealed that two suspects in a tan color Hyundai had fired a gun out of the window of their vehicle while driving and left the scene.

While they were leaving the scene, deputies say they hit another vehicle from behind and two traffic signs that were on the side of the road. The driver lost control of the vehicle and ended up getting stuck in the mud.

The suspects were able to get their vehicle out of the mud and continued to drive away. Deputies were able to locate the suspected vehicle parked outside a residence.

The driver, later identified as Hernandez, ended up confessing to the crime. Authorities later learned that Hernandez and his friend, who has not been arrested yet, were also in possession of marijuana at the time of the crime.

Investigators later learned the suspects attempted to get rid of the gun and the marijuana so it would not be found when police arrived, the release added.

Both the gun and marijuana were seized as evidence.

Hernandez was booked into Carrizalez Rucker Detention Center. According to the release, the second suspect has not been arrested yet.

Throw the book on him for every violation. Give him a long time in prison. And when he finishes his time and if he is a Mexican citizen deport him.
