MISSION, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — The City of Mission, the City of McAllen and the Texas Department of Transportation held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of Phase One of the Taylor Road Reconstruction Project.

Phase One extends from Frontage Road to U.S. Business 83 and has transformed the road from two lanes to four, including a continuous left-turn lane and sidewalks on both sides.

The improvements will significantly ease traffic congestion and enhance pedestrian safety.

“This project has actually been in the works for quite a while,” said Mission Mayor Norie Gonzalez Garza. “I want to thank our previous Mayors, Mayor Beto Salinas and Jim Darling from McAllen for actually having the foresight of this particular project.”

Reconstruction of Phase Two of the project, which will extend from U.S. Business 83 to Mile 2 Road, is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2025.
