    PHARR, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — More than $500,000 worth of alleged narcotics were seized over the weekend, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced.

    On Sept. 13, CBP officers at the Pharr International Bridge referred a tractor-trailer, with a shipment of avocados, for a secondary inspection.

    Suspect in critical condition after officer-involved shooting in Alamo

    During the secondary inspection, CBP officers found 16 packages containing 37.69 pounds of cocaine hidden within the trailer.

    CBP says the cocaine was valued at $503,355, according to a news release.

    Officers seized the narcotics and the trailer. Homeland Security Investigations initiated a criminal investigation.
