Hidalgo County jail records show Gonzales was arrested by the Weslaco Police Department on a charge of assault of a family member while impeding breath and circulation.

“District policy prohibits us from releasing specific details regarding the individual involved,” Donna ISD announced. “However, we can confirm that Mr. Gonzales tendered his resignation and it was promptly accepted.”

Jail records show Gonzales was released from jail Monday on a $2,500 bond.

The Weslaco Police Department says they will not release information regarding Gonzales’ arrest as they continue to investigate.
