    Over 200 auto theft arrests in last 6 months, Brownsville PD announce

    BROWNSVILLE, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Over 200 arrests have been made in connection to auto thefts since February 2024, Brownsville police announced.

    According to the Brownsville Police Department Public Information Officer Abril Luna, there have been 209 auto theft arrests, including minors, from mid-February to September.

    These arrests vary from engaging in criminal organization to attempting auto theft, and theft, authorities said.

    Luna added that the police department advises car owners to take extra precautions for their vehicles, such as installing a kill switch and using a steering wheel club to prevent thefts.
