CBP officers seize over $79k hidden in vehicle

HIDALGO, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — More than $79,000 hidden within a vehicle was seized during an inspection at the Hidalgo International Bridge, authorities say.

On Monday, Sept. 23, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers referred a southbound 2008 Honda, driven by a 58-year-old Mexican citizen, to a secondary inspection, according to a release from CBP.

During the inspection, officers found five packages containing a total of $79,392 of unreported currency hidden within the vehicle.

CBP officers seized the money and Homeland Security Investigations arrested the driver.

This is an ongoing investigation.
