    HARLINGEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — It’s a bird! It’s a plane! … Actually, it was a meteor!

ValleyCentral reached out to some viewers after seeing photos and videos circulating online of an unidentified bright blaze cutting across the sky last night in Harlingen.

Shannon Fox, a Harlingen resident captured the following video on her door camera.

Our Meteorologist Briana Medina says we were not expecting a meteor shower of that gravity and that the event was random and isolated.

“This is officially the second meteor we see in the Valley this year,” Medina said.

Forecaster Craig Verley says that while meteor showers do happen frequently, it is not common to see such a bright blaze from them.

“To see a fireball of that nature is very uncommon,” Verley said.

To report a fireball or any other meteor activity, visit the American Meteor Society .

Regardless of whether or not the Valley was expecting to see the bright light blaze in the sky, those who spotted it were left in awe.
