    Inmate charged with damaging light fixture, speaker in cell

    BROWNSVILLE, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — A Carrizales Rucker Detention Center inmate allegedly damaged light fixtures at the jail, valued at more than $1,000.

    According to a release issued by the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office, Gerardo Lugo damaged a light fixture inside single cell 147, as well as a speaker.

    At 2:57 p.m. Tuesday, deputies were dispatched to the jail to assess the damage.

    The light fixture is valued at $1,059.80 and the speaker is valued at $72.79 for a total of $1,344.55, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

    Lugo was charged with Criminal Mischief, a class A misdemeanor.
