Weslaco ISD makes safety upgrade on travel buses

WESLACO, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — The Weslaco Independent School District has announced new bus upgrades that will allow for a safer and more comfortable travel to future competitions.

Students who travel to competing districts will be using the new buses that feature comfortable seats, seatbelts, cameras and outlet chargers.

“It’s a point of pride for our school district and for our students, ” said Carlos Robledo, Executive Director of District Communications for Weslaco ISD.

Robledo says the buses are designed to carry 51 students.

Both buses will be used for travel to extracurricular competitions including athletics, UIL academics and fine arts events.

The two buses display the Weslaco ISD logo and mascots to represent the district’s pride.

“When our students come in here, they’re going to have a lot of pride when they go to their event, because it’s going to say Weslaco ISD and it’s going to have their school logo on the side,” Robledo continued.

The district plans to receive more luxury travel buses in the future.
