PD: Man falsely identifies as commissioner to scam resident

BROWNSVILLE, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — A man accused of scamming over 30 people earlier this year was arrested again, according to Brownsville police.

Diego Amir Paz was arrested this week on charges of theft and burglary of habitation in connection to another scam.

According to police, Paz falsely claimed he was running as a commissioner for the Port of Brownsville.

Paz used the false claim to ask residents for sponsorship funds to run his campaign. One person fell victim to the scam.

The two new charges are unrelated to Paz’s scam in August, police say.
