    BPD: Driver in fatal hit and run turns himself in

    BROWNSVILLE, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — A man accused of fatally striking a man with his car and leaving the scene has turned himself in to the Brownsville Police Department.

    Alejandro Correa Torres, 57, is charged with collision involving death, a second-degree felony.

    On Saturday, police responded to an accident on the 700 block of E. Saint Charles St. where they found 92-year-old Luis Noriega, who had been struck by a car that left the scene.

    Noriega was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

    Two days later, on Aug. 23, Torres, the alleged driver of the car that struck Noriega, turned himself in to authorities.

    Torres was arraigned and released on a bond of $50,000.
