    City of Edinburg kicks off Edinburg Cares Food Drive

    EDINBURG, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — The City of Edinburg is inviting the community to participate in the Edinburg Cares Food Drive.

    The food drive will be open from now until Nov. 15, 2024. The City of Edinburg wants to ensure residents across the city can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.

    City officials and staff alongside, the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District and H-E-B will distribute 1000 turkeys and 1000 food baskets on Saturday, Nov. 23 to pre-selected families in Edinburg.

    Participants can donate non-perishable food items such as canned fruit and vegetables, stuffing and gravy mixes for families in need.

    Donations will be accepted at the following locations:

    • Edinburg City Hall, 415 W. University Drive
    • Edinburg Police Department, 1702 S. Closner Boulevard
    • Central Fire Station, 212 W. McIntyre Street
    • Edinburg Parks and Recreation, 315 Mark S. Pena Drive
    • Hidalgo County Precinct 4, 1051 N. Doolittle Road
    • Texas Barbershop, 1303 S. McColl Road
    • Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library, 1906 S. Closner Boulevard
    • All ECISD Schools

    Those interested in volunteering to sort out cans, fill food baskets and deliver the baskets can call (956) 381-5631 for more information.
