    Law enforcement agencies release statement following Trooper’s death

    HARLINGEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Several law enforcement agencies released a statement following the death of Trooper Kevin Alexis Ramirez Vasquez.

    On Sept. 17 Trooper Vasquez was investigating a car crash on State Highway 302 alongside the Ector County Sheriff’s Office when he was hit by another vehicle traveling down the highway.

    Vasquez was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition. On Sept. 28 he died at the hospital from his injuries.

    The following law enforcement agencies released a statement:

    Texas State Troopers Association said in a statement, “TSTA honors Trooper Vasquez’s service and commitment to public safety in Texas. We will always remember and celebrate his life and legacy.”

    The Starr County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that they extend their sincerest condolences to Trooper Vasquez’s family, friends, and colleagues.

    Texas Department of Public Safety said on a social media post, “Trooper Ramirez Vasquez was a true servant leader and a man of valor, honor and purpose. His legacy will never be forgotten.”

    The Edinburg Police Department posted their condolences to Trooper Vasquez’s loved ones and colleagues on social media.

    “The Edinburg Police Department extends its sincerest condolences on the loss of Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Kevin Ramirez Vasquez, a U.S. Army Veteran and trooper who joined DPS in 2023,” said Edinburg PD. “His selfless service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”

    According to a news release from DPS, Vasquez served in the United States Army before joining the department in 2023 and was currently serving in the National Guard.
