MCALLEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — South Texas College was chosen as one of several colleges and universities nationwide to test run the new financial aid application.

Institution leaders tested the new Financial Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form to help students apply for the 2025-2026 school year.

The test run allows STC to help 1,000 students apply for financial aid while receiving feedback on the new form.

“STC is proud to have been selected by the U.S. Department of Education to participate in this important national beta test initiative for the new FAFSA application,” said Matthew Hebbard, STC Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment.

STC is among 78 schools nationwide and the only community college in the Rio Grande Valley chosen to perform the test run.

The national FAFSA application release date is December 1.
