HARLINGEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — South Texas Health System has partnered with Spirit Halloween stores in the Rio Grande Valley to raise funds for their Child Life program.

Proceeds from Halloween costume and accessory sales will support programs that make hospital stays less frightening for children, including sensory equipment and art therapy.

Last year, $60,000 was donated, contributing to a total of $260,000 over six years.

Additionally, STHS receives over 100 costumes for monthly Halloween events for hospitalized children.

The public is encouraged to support by purchasing costumes at the five Spirit Halloween stores.
