BROWNSVILLE, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Concerns over environmental harms and public safety risks of SpaceX launches have been a top concern for residents over several months.

On Sunday, SpaceX conducted its fifth test launch from Boca Chica, which was deemed as successful by CEO Elon Musk.

SpaceX’s first test launch was in April 2023, and since then, people have raised concerns about their homes shaking and the negative impact that these launches have on wildlife.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) will host a public meeting Thursday to discuss SpaceX’s proposal to discharge polluted water on Boca Chica Beach.

Concerned residents and members of the South Texas Environmental Justice Network are organizing a rally outside the TCEQ public meeting to voice their concerns on the SpaceX proposal.

Advocates have raised additional concerns over the exclusion of the community for its Thursday proposal meeting including insufficient Spanish translation and short notice changes on the proposal.

The rally will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday outside of the Brownsville Sports Park Gymnasium located on 1000 Sports Park Blvd.

only a handful of people have bitched and they are very vocal in their attempt to gain attention to something that is not dangerous.
