MISSION, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — A man was arrested after posing as an immigration attorney and taking money from people, according to the Mission Police Department.

Ruperto Perez-Alvarez, 54, was arrested on a charge of theft of property, Hidalgo County Jail records indicate.

A release from Mission police stated that Perez-Alvarez made several people believe he was an immigration attorney and took money from them to file their cases.

However, the victim’s cases were never filed and Perez-Alvarez never returned their money.

Police are asking other victims of him to come forward and report their cases. To contact the Mission Police Department call (956) 584-5000.

The name of the law firm he used to allegedly scam clients was called Mexus Law Firm in Mission.

Who are his clients? The people who cross the border. They must have a lot of money.
