VAN BUREN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — On Friday, July 26, New York State Police arrested two women at XiangLi Wellness Spa in Van Buren who are accused of being connected to a human trafficking ring operating out of New York City.

The women, 59-year-old Liyan Liu, from Queens, and 61-year-old Shuqin Zhou, from China, were arrested for one count of prostitution, a Class B misdemeanor, and one count of unauthorized practice of a profession, a Class E felony.

State police also said the two women were living at the spa.

When police searched the business, they found ledgers, price lists, condoms, business records, and digital equipment.

An investigation began after people reported “suspicious activity” at the spa, state police said.
